History of Taylor Instruments Part 1

Taylor Instruments began in 1851 in Rochester, New York. George Taylor began his endeavor to provide instruments for a professional market in a very humble factory. Although their means of production began in a modest environment, their motto was, and remains, “Accuracy First.” It was this line of thinking that ensured Taylor Instruments would consistently rise above its competitors in its field.

During the Industrial Revolution Taylor grew and changed to meet the demands of the new world that was rising up around it. During this time Taylor Instruments began to produce incubator thermometers as well as controlled environment instruments in addition to its already successful line of thermometers and hygrometers.

During World War 1, making and supplying altitude barometers for the fighter aircraft of the time. During World War 2 Taylor Instruments became a critical supplier of precision instruments such as compasses. At this time all of their thermometers, hygrometers and barometers were going to the war effort, with none left for consumer use.

Although Taylor saw many changes in the coming years, one thing that remained constant was its desire to producing great products for both the consumer and professional markets.
